04:41 - Peggy George
maker spaces are so valuable for problem solving!!!

04:48 - @wfryer Wes Fryer
Because tinkerers, makers & dreamers invent the future!

05:03 - Peggy George

05:16 - Susan

05:22 - Peggy George

Hi Peggy!

08:51 - Peggy George
I have a few gaps in my education!!! :-)

09:21 - @wfryer Wes Fryer
I haven't thought of the importance of a drill press for making!

09:48 - @bcdtech Maureen
My grown children know how... I only had home ec in school... and my brothers got to work with my dad- I got to dust and vacuum. Change is good

10:33 - stidmama
Subbing for a shop teacher once I had the middle school girls insisting they didn

10:50 - stidmama
they didn't have to tie back their hair. We put ALL the tools away until they were safe!

10:57 - Peggy George
my experience too Maureen :-)

11:13 - @wfryer Wes Fryer
Woo hoo "Maker Activist!!!!"

11:39 - Peggy George

11:45 - @bcdtech Maureen
@peggy- same generation... I have had to teach myself a lot... but still have big gaps that my kids got from shop class in school

12:06 - Peggy George (Safety Slideshow inspired by Audrey Hepburn)

12:25 - Peggy George
Hi Patti! So glad you could join us!!

12:31 - stidmama
I had home ec and loved it -- taught me the basics of chemistry, design and project planning. Physics, Chemistry and helping my dad in his woodshop gave me the practical bits. Although I wasn't allowed to really work with the tools or be in the shop while he was working due to severe allergies, I still learned a lot.

12:39 - Patti Ruffing
Hi Peggy, disappointed I missed the beginning

13:01 - Peggy George
what an amazing garage setup!!

13:18 - @bcdtech Maureen

13:27 - Peggy George
love your story @stidmama!!

13:32 - Peggy George

15:26 - Peggy George
Welcome Sava!

16:34 - Sava
Thanks! :-)

16:50 - Peggy George
so often parents don't want their kids to use big tools like this because they are worried about safety. often have the same fear about social media...but how can they learn if they can't have these experiences with supervision/monitoring/mentoring??

17:10 - Peggy George
in case you missed the Livebinder link:

17:25 - Patti Ruffing
you can't learn to swim if you never leave the wading pool

17:44 - Peggy George
exactly Patti!

18:18 - Peggy George
you can definitely save yourself lots of money if you know how to fix/repair some of these things :-)

18:35 - Patti Ruffing
I should have my husband watching this!

18:45 - Peggy George
my skills (sadly) are often limited to spraying things with WD40 :-)

19:43 - @bcdtech Maureen
I have a large hammer :-)

19:50 - Peggy George

29:37 - Gayle
She is inspired.

29:39 - Peggy George
it would be fantastic to have access to all of these tools in a community "hacker space" so we wouldn't have to purchase them for a one or two time use :-)
