07:02 - Letia Cooper
That was so helpful.:)

07:02 - @lemoinemb MB Lemoine
Hi Letia....thanks for coming.

07:12 - Peggy George
I think we tend not to think about certain things as being engineering and we'll have a better idea about that during Letia's presentation

07:26 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
Engineering is the application of the others and teachers "don't have enough time" to do that part.

07:27 - Peggy George
We are thrilled to have Letia here to share with us today!!

07:44 - Peggy George
excellent point @teachteKBeck

07:54 - TAMUC-LynnB
I started using Livebinders after watching a webinar on Classroom 2.0 Live. Thanks Guys!

08:08 - Kim Caise
yeah middle school

08:11 - Mark Jones
Go middle school

08:14 - Peggy George
awesome @LynnB!!

08:46 - Peggy George
with all of those long words you can see why it's been shortened to STEM :-)

09:12 - Peggy George
many districts actually use the STEAM acronym and include the ARTS in it

09:17 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
Teaching middle school and still a middle schooler at heart!!

09:19 - Karen
STEM is what the innovators will need to develop new and exciting solutions.

09:58 - shukufa
yes it is science, technology, engineering and mathematics

10:00 - Peggy George you can follow along in your browser by clicking on the tab for 100+ STEM

10:02 - shukufa

10:10 - Peggy George

19:05 - Peggy George
it just doesn't want to load!! strange!

19:24 - Peggy George
you can all look at it later in your browser because she has so many great sites to share

19:31 - Carolyn Stanley
That looks like an amazing resource. We don't teach bio at the middle school in science, but maybe my health teacher can use it.

19:32 - Peggy George

19:54 - Peggy George

19:55 - @Len_Horn

19:56 - sandy

19:56 - Michael Kessinger

21:54 - Peggy George

22:07 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
I use Man vs. Food and Bert the Conqueror videos to teach my middle school math classes

22:29 - Peggy George
what fun Kristen!!

22:57 - Peggy George
teaches them to be great problem solvers!

23:14 - Paula Deal 1
How do people handle sites where students must register. Any problems with your school AUP? do you discuss cyber safety issues?

23:24 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
I'll be adding the CSI ones!! I really want my students to see the math concepts in real life contexts!!

23:41 - Peggy George
every one of those sub-tabs is a different web site or tool to use with your students!

23:57 - Peggy George

24:04 - Kim Caise
most middle school students are over the age of 13

24:23 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
I'll be sharing this livebinder with my district math and science teachers!!

24:27 - Peggy George
I love the self-paced Moodle courses!

24:35 - Kim Caise
but i will add that to the list of questions

24:52 - Paula Deal 1
Letia, will these site work ok on tablets, ipads, etc?

25:04 - Peggy George
all browser based

25:23 - Peggy George

25:29 - Kim Caise

25:33 - Peggy George
PhET Interactive simulations

25:50 - Peggy George
those simulations really help them to understand!

26:22 - Peggy George
you can create a Livebinder for your students with just the specific links you want them to explore for a unit

26:31 - Carolyn Stanley
@Kim -actually most of our incoming 7th graders are 12, and they turn 13 during the school year.

27:09 - Peggy George

27:27 - Peggy George
hard to find sites without ads when they are free

27:38 - Curtis V
could you post the livebinder address ? please :-)

27:59 - TAMUC-CarrieJones
My 6th graders are studying the solar system now...what a great resource for them.

28:02 - @lemoinemb MB Lemoine this

28:05 - Kim Caise

28:06 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
@Carolyn at my middle school we send out a letter for google accounts and other sites that require the students to be 13 and have the parents create the accounts with their child and sign the permission slip. We also make sure they use a "standard" user name and password for all of the sites etc... One Stone!

28:17 - Peggy George our Livebinder contains her Livebinder

28:36 - Peggy George
Direct link for Letia's Livebinder

29:03 - Paula Deal 1
Great idea @teachteKBeck

29:17 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
@Carolyn We also allow the parents to give us (the teachers) permission to create the accounts for the students. I have 140 seventh and eighth graders and all have google accounts etc...

29:20 - shukufa
i'm just there but dont see abour english

29:27 - Peggy George

30:24 - Carolyn Stanley
@Kristen - fortunately, we are a school -district now- with a Google apps for education domain. We make parents aware of it in AUP communications.

31:45 - @teachteKBeck(Kristen)
@Carolyn that is awesome! our school is purposely avoiding joining our district Google Apps because everything is blocked but documents and my kids use blogger, picassa, etc...

31:48 - Peggy George
she won't be able to show us all of her links today but they are all there for you to explore later

31:57 - Kim Caise all of the resources are found here

53:55 - Gary

54:00 - TAMUC-LynnB
Sometimes we have trouble with simulated software working in the classroom, even when the tech department tries to unblock it. Probably a bandwidth problem?

54:00 - Michael Kessinger
Just experienced tornados in our area (first one since I've lived in KY) that destroyed several schools (Morgan Co KY) This site might expand on what some students had experienced.

54:14 - Paula Deal 1
All these sites are so great for flipped classrooms too

54:15 - Darla
Great idea, Michael!

54:17 - Gary

54:55 - Peggy George

55:33 - Peggy George
excellent point about flipiped classrooms!! these resources are perfect for that!

56:09 - roxanne clement #2
Lynn...when bandwidth is an issue, try to flip your lesson, they can watch and do it at home and then come in talk about it

56:16 - Peggy George
in LA you have to think about the skills--reading, communicating, collaborating, problem solving are all part of LA and also science :-)

56:16 - rafael
my email we can have videoconferences and share cultural technological values bye.

56:47 - Carolyn Stanley
It boggles my mind how these wonderful folks such as all our moderators and Letia find the time to gather all these resources and then are willing to share them so freely! I wish we could get Arne Duncan to tune into some of these webinars.

57:03 - Peggy George
love it @Carolyn!!
