01:27 - Peggy George

01:47 - Marsha
@Leah I want to do what you are writing about.

01:55 - Rafael. A_Espinoza P

02:15 - Marsha
@Leah almost like letting them reveal what they've learned as a living textbook based on what the lab revealed

02:19 - Peggy George
So exciting that now Book Creator is on Chromebooks!!! If you can access the web you can use it!

02:26 - Peggy George

05:01 - Kristen Brooks

05:18 - Peggy George (Jon Smith: Using Book Creator to Support Autistic Students)

05:29 - Peggy George

05:29 - Peg Volak
Snow tonight...ugh! 72 by Wed. though!

05:33 - @bcdte
I'm a tech integration specialist... ran myself ragged this past week. So much to do!

05:40 - Leah LaCrosse
I have a golf cart. Does that count?

05:49 - Peggy George
sure Leah!!

05:50 - Brendan Kelly
Lol same Leah!

05:56 - Peggy George (Jon Smith’ Class eBooks)

06:05 - Susie @shighley
I"m not a golfer, but I have a son who is pretty good. One of the reasons he lives in California, so he can play a lot!

06:07 - @bcdte

06:12 - Peggy George
wow Jon!!! That's a very busy schedule!!!

06:27 - Peggy George (Jon Smith, Book Creator Ambassador)

06:42 - Peggy George

07:19 - Peggy George
haha!!! evil???? we've all had some tough classes for sure!!

07:47 - @bcdte
Hmmm did they really not care or was this just a way to avoid all that?

07:54 - Susie @shighley
I think if they have been put together year after year, that feeling spreads among them

07:55 - Doug Henry (San Leandro, CA)
Great slides!

08:35 - Susie @shighley
ANd if they have been taught the same ways year after year

08:37 - Peggy George
we often "misdiagnose" kids and think they don't care about anything but we just haven't found what it is!

08:57 - Peggy George
good point Susie!

09:21 - Peggy George
it would be so much fun to be in Jon's class!!!

10:13 - Kristen Brooks

10:15 - Peggy George
that looks very familiar!!!!

10:38 - @bcdte

10:47 - @bcdte

10:48 - Eileen K
Kids detest writing prompts...

10:52 - E Slifer
We do try everything that we can think of, don't we?

10:59 - Peg Volak
It an be an exhausting process!

11:01 - Peggy George
for sure E!!!

11:13 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I know when my 4th graders can create something such as a Google Doc, Slide, Spark etc., they are more engaged in their writing.

11:39 - @bcdte
Why write for the teacher? Write for the world...

11:46 - Peg Volak
My 2nd graders are touching each other's collaborative work this year! Argh!

11:46 - Peggy George
thankfully we are getting lots more tools that inspire writing!

11:57 - Peggy George
absolutely Maureen!!!

12:10 - Brendan Kelly

12:16 - Leah LaCrosse
#WritingForOne...boooooo #WriteForTheWorld...YES!

12:29 - Peggy George
love that Brendan!! #globalfridge!!!

12:30 - @bcdte

12:42 - Eileen K
It starts with a teacher who shows he/she loves writing. Then Mentor Texts bring writing to life when a teacher uses them as examples.

13:00 - Kristen Brooks
Audience is key-Go Jon Go! You Rock!

13:07 - @bcdte
I don't like writing, but sharing via multimedia works for me

13:08 - Peggy George
yes Eileen!!! The teacher is so important!!

13:39 - @plnaugle (Paula)

13:41 - Laura Antichi (Italy)
I proposed BookCreator in a teacher training. I used the application from the Chrome Browser.

13:57 - @bcdte
I have a whole list of wikispaces with kid work that I will need to make decisions about

13:57 - Peggy George
they don't tend to think about themselves as having a legacy to leave behind

14:15 - Peggy George
me too Maureen! so sad to see Wikispaces closing down!

14:48 - Peggy George (Book Creator website)

14:48 - Eileen K
The National Writing Project is a great source for writing support for teachers. They offer many PD webinars and summer courses for teachers. It opened a whole new world for me.

14:52 - Brendan Kelly

14:59 - Peggy George
kids can be so challenging!!!

15:11 - Peggy George
Hi Wendi! Welcome!

15:27 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Peggy and Maureen, sad to see another great site shutting down. I need to get my stuff moved from Wikispaces to something else. Ideas?

15:46 - E Slifer
I participated in National Writing Project, too. Linked me with some great friends and writers plus gleaned new ideas.

15:54 - @bcdte
@paula- waiting to see export tools, but probably just to google site

15:58 - Peggy George
Paula I'm going to Google Sites. Much greater chance of not going away!!

16:15 - Peggy George
National Writing Project is fabulous!!!

16:18 - Eileen K
Yes, Writing Fellows are the best!

16:24 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Thanks, that's probably what I'll do too.

16:52 - E Slifer
Our community offers a contest where kids write story and submit for chance to be made into a movie. It is called Pens to Lens. Great way to get kids excited especially when I shared the previous year's video stories.

17:03 - Peggy George
I wasn't able to export my content in a usable format to transfer to a new site but at least I have all of the content (exported as PDF from wikispaces)

17:27 - Peggy George
the idea of being able to publish and sell a book must have blown their minds!

17:43 - Peggy George
Can you share that link E Slifer??

17:55 - E Slifer
Yes I will find it.

18:16 - Peggy George
Jon's slides are amazing!! They are in our Livebinder. :-)

18:18 - @bcdte

18:21 - Leah LaCrosse
Stop, Collaborate, and Listen #JonIsOnAMission

18:29 - Peggy George

18:44 - Brendan Kelly

19:23 - E Slifer
Pens to Lens You can watch videos but the kids see their work on the big screen and walk the red carpet at a premiere.

19:29 - Peggy George
if any of you have examples of Book Creator books published by you or your students please share the links in the chat and I'll add them to our Livebinder after the show.

19:39 - Peggy George
Thanks E.Slifer!!!

20:08 - Peggy George
I remember downloading that book on iTunes years ago! :-)

20:18 - Peggy George

26:47 - Peggy George
kids who wanted nothing to do with writing!!!! incredible success story!!!

26:47 - Kristen Brooks
so many excellent teachers are having this conversation often with admins

27:02 - Peggy George
so sad Kristen!!!

27:35 - Peggy George (Book Creator is on the Web: a web-based version of Book Creator that will work in the Chrome browser on ALL devices. That means Chromebooks, Macs, Windows devices, even Android and iPhones!)

28:25 - Peg Volak
So once you finish a book, you put it on iBook? Is that what I heard/

28:41 - @bcdte
Love using Book Creator with kids... did one class as a sandbox- quick demo and then had them push all the buttons and try it all out... then they were confident.

29:01 - @bcdte
on Chromebooks

32:03 - @bcdte
Can the books created on Chromebooks be uploaded to iBooks? Is there an easy way? I know we can download as pdf, epub and get an embed code, but looking for a shortcut to go from Chromebook to iOS- iBooks...

32:04 - Peggy George
I get goosebumps hearing this story!!

32:40 - Susie @shighley
"honorary special ed"

33:09 - Kristen Brooks

33:34 - Peggy George

35:37 - @bcdte
