03:43 - Susie @shighley
Wow! Top 50 Global. Congratulations.

04:06 - Stella Maris Berdaxagar 1
Sorry I am late. I was unable to log in before.

04:07 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Yes indeed. Congratulations, Lisa.

04:14 - Peggy George
Sorry for my raspy voice!! It's not your audio!!

04:54 - Peggy George
2006-07 were the first years I discovered Web 2.0 too! My beginnings were in following podcasts :-)

04:57 - Annette Whitby
Web 2.0 means millions of ways to connect.

05:07 - Peggy George
great description Annette!!!

05:32 - Annette Whitby

05:35 - Peggy George
This is the link to our Livebinder today where you'll find Lisa's resources.

05:53 - Peggy George
that's a great answer Lisa!

06:22 - Peggy George (Follow Lisa on Twitter)

06:29 - Fabiana Casella (Argentina)

06:30 - Peggy George (Lisa Parisi’ professional blog)

06:50 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
2007 for me. Started in order to connect with granddaughter [and monitor :) ] with Twitter -- discovered a new world of educators !

06:55 - Peggy George
conferences have changed so much over the years!

07:00 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
Yes. Alan November is awesome.

07:05 - Peggy George
I agree!

07:15 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Love Alan November. He is so inspiring!

07:18 - Annette Whitby

07:20 - Peggy George
Hi Stella! Welcome!

07:33 - Peggy George
oh no!! berated???

07:41 - Peggy George
he is passionate!!!

08:33 - Peggy George
it's hard to keep up with blogging when you are involved in so many things on top of teaching all day every day!

08:48 - Lorie Moffat

08:59 - Susie @shighley
Yes. We see Peggy!

09:01 - Fabiana Casella (Argentina)
It sure is, Peggy!

09:14 - Fabiana Casella (Argentina)
Hi Stella Maris!

09:21 - Peggy George

09:28 - Peggy George
that is Lisa's Twitter page :-)

09:57 - Peggy George
with app sharing sometimes your page will load slowly

10:21 - Peggy George

10:29 - stidmama
Passion should not be an excuse for rudeness. I think he must not be in touch with some of the realities of teaching in places like I do. The school doesn't own a single webcam for skyping! I have to submit a support ticket to get one installed... skype will happen if and when I can afford one on my own. :-(

10:33 - Peggy George
and 15,000+ tweets!!!

10:48 - Peggy George
great point stidmama!

11:34 - Peggy George
have any of you ever downloaded your Twitter archives? It's incredible to see all of your tweets from the beginning!

11:48 - Peggy George (Responsive Classroom Site)

11:59 - Peggy George
Hi aunttammie! Great to see you!

12:14 - Peggy George
go right ahead Lisa--just tell your story!

12:38 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Yes, Peggy, I've downloaded my Twitter archive. It took a long time since I have over 35K tweets.

12:51 - Peggy George
me too Paula :-)

12:59 - aunttammie
THanks, I'm running a bit behind today!

13:22 - Peggy George

13:30 - Stella Maris Berdaxagar 1
Hi, Fabiana.

13:52 - Annette Whitby
Thx for teaching me about the archive download feature for Twitter. Didn't realize this!

13:56 - Peggy George
Looks for Lisa's earlier podcasts "Teachers are Talking" and "It's Elementary" :-)

14:07 - Patti Ruffing
Something that maybe Lorie could ask Lisa at the end: What is the flow in her school, do the students do similar activities in 4th grade and 6th grade or is her classroom unique in her school. Do they all do global activities, blog, etc.

14:32 - Peggy George
Lorie will ask your questions at the end of Lisa's presentation :-)

14:55 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Hi Louise! :)

14:56 - Peggy George

15:12 - Peggy George
Hi Louise! So glad you could join us!

15:22 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
Mindsets and mandates are blocks to tech integration

15:35 - Peggy George
amazing discovery!

15:50 - Peggy George
what an awesome learning experience!

15:50 - Annette Whitby
What a neat way to explore these topics.

15:51 - @mrsmorgansclass -Louise
Hi Paula! Trouble getting on. Changes with Java and Chrome.

16:03 - Susie @shighley
I had to update my java too

16:41 - Peggy George
yes Louise! java is always changing! You have to go to the login link to download a new file for every session or you will have problems getting into the current session

16:59 - Peggy George

17:00 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
I switch from Chrome to Firefox for CRLive or videos. Chrome is not working well with Yosemite.

17:09 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
on macs

17:25 - Peggy George (Natural Disasters and Us global project with two fifth grade classes - Mrs. Parisi's class in New York and Mrs. Romá's class in Illinois. )

17:55 - @mrsmorgansclass -Louise
Gave up and got on my iPad.

18:00 - Peggy George (Denton Dynamo’ 5th grade class blog, 2013-14)

18:22 - Peggy George
yes Louise! hope your bandwidth is OK with app sharing on your iPad

18:55 - stidmama
I am so glad that you were able to use a current event to trigger and support extra learning. It can be so hard to deviate from "the plan" nowadays, even when something really devastating happens. Love how the narrative of the process is helping me think about what to do next year.

19:04 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Louise, are your students doing a Cinco de Mayo presentation this year?

19:14 - Peggy George

19:40 - Peggy George
Yes @stidmama! That makes the learning so authentic and powerful! They will always remember it!

20:32 - Peggy George
Lisa can you describe what happens in a responsive classroom? for teacher and students

20:47 - Peggy George

21:00 - @mrsmorgansclass -Louise
@paula. No not this year.

21:10 - Lisa Parisi

21:21 - Peggy George
I'm curious how you make connections between your responsive classroom and your global connection experiences. :-)

21:50 - Peggy George
great point! self control has everything to do with empathy

22:03 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I think these kinds of projects are what should be happening in every school. I've had a buddy Skype classroom in Kansas since 2009. Reach out and start by finding one other class to connect with via Skype or GHO.

22:21 - Peggy George
Welcome russelm!

22:45 - @plnaugle (Paula)
You can cover so many Common Core standards with these kinds of projects.

23:04 - Peggy George

23:19 - Peggy George

23:37 - Peggy George
so many great learning experiences in that project!

23:50 - @plnaugle (Paula)
@Louise, I remember watching your students performance before. Sorry it is not happening this year, but I understand.

23:53 - Peggy George
great point Paula about the standards!

24:20 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
We skyped with Karen last week - One of my groups is researching Rhinos. We got the traveling rhino last year but I wanted my kids to learn about the rhinos. We used all of the great classroom created resources on the wiki.

24:32 - Peggy George
did any of you get to participate in the Save Our Rhinos global project?

24:34 - Susie @shighley
I'm finding that connecting with Skype, etc is helping students' questioning skills

25:04 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
fun! My kids love showing our guests our Peace Video.

25:11 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I'll need to share a memorable Skype call between Lisa's class and my class at the end of the show.

25:32 - Peggy George
There is a great video in our Livebinder today about the Global Friendship project. Be sure to watch it later and you'll learn all about it.

26:17 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Students become better listeners and speakers when you do video conferencing with ohter classes.

26:27 - Peggy George (Our Global Friendships wiki)

26:43 - Peggy George
I love this idea!

27:06 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Lisa, aren't you a member of the Hello Little Skypers group?

27:34 - Peggy George
That song makes you feel like dancing :-)

27:36 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Global Peace Day Video -

27:54 - Peggy George
thanks Louise! I'll add that to the Livebinder.

28:10 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Our version of the Peace Day Video

28:19 - Peggy George

29:35 - Peggy George
keep your browser on top Lisa so the black box doesn't cover the screen

29:59 - Peggy George

30:09 - stidmama
Love how reaching out means that the kids have a bigger idea of the world, as well as of themselves.

30:35 - Peggy George
thanks Tammy! it wasn't going back for me :-(

31:16 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Our participation in the Peace day video was a great start to our new school year. We worked together as a team and bonded. it also helped them feel connected to all of the other classrooms in the video.

31:52 - Peggy George
Thanks for sharing Paula! Love these stories!

32:27 - Peggy George

32:32 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
We participated in Paula's Mardi Gras a few years ago - poor connection but great to see how hard the students work to present their projects.

32:41 - Peggy George
what fun!

We call such skills citizenship skills and life skills and in EUROPE we have guides and financial help to promote such projects within EUROPE and also with other nations outside EUROPE. I am pleased to see that your kids are learning such important skills

33:23 - Peggy George
that's fantastic Tiziana! how great that you have funding for those kinds of projects!

33:57 - Peggy George
Paula please post your Mystery Hangout link :-)

34:50 - @plnaugle (Paula)
My Mystery Location Call Google site -

35:03 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
We mystery skyped with Lisa's class early in the year. After finding our locations, her class looked up our school on Google Earth. Lisa pointed out that our playground looked like a big smiley face from above. Since then, my kids like to tell everyone that our playground smiles :-)

35:05 - Peggy George
accents can be such a challenge in these calls :-) so much fun!

35:21 - Peggy George
thanks Paula!

35:27 - Peggy George
gangsters??? :-)

35:36 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
We always have to be careful not to say "ya'll" during our mystery skypes.

36:26 - Annette Whitby

36:27 - Peggy George
what kind of "backup" plans do you have when your internet connection fails you during your Mystery Skype calls?

36:33 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Yes, Louise, us too. I have to remind my students not to say y'all when we do Mystery Skype calls. :)

37:03 - Peggy George
Beholding Bee

37:22 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Yes can do Mysrtery Number calls too.

37:57 - Peggy George
oh no!!!! fire drill!

38:00 - Peggy George
great timing!

38:17 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I've had to remind some teahcer to change their info on their Skype contact page to not include their location if they want to do Mystery Skype calls.

38:35 - Peggy George
sounds like you just need to be flexible :-)

39:10 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
I did Mystery Skype via Voxer with another teacher because they had a power outage and no internet.

39:28 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
great idea louise!

39:33 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2

39:38 - Peggy George
Lisa can you give us a quick description of some of the other projects on your wiki (Wiki for Lisa Parisi’ collaboration projects--synchronous and asynchronous collaboration projects that are implemented in her classroom)

39:44 - Fabiana Casella (Argentina)
That is super @Mrs Morgan

39:45 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I've had to do a Skype call on my phone a couple of times. Time zones have messed of up too and we connected at the wrong time. :)

39:50 - Peggy George (The Global Classroom Project-Mentors)

39:56 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Yep! It shall continue in a little different way, but the name lives on.

40:02 - Fabiana Casella (Argentina)
Yes it really is a problem

40:14 - Peggy George
That wiki is amazing and a great place to start exploring possible ideas for global collaboration!

40:26 - Peggy George

40:46 - Peggy George
do you all know what quad blogging is?

41:17 - @plnaugle (Paula)
I love having teachers sign up for Impromptu Skype calls at the end of our school years (after testing is over). We've had some great impromptu calls with classes we've connected with more formally during the year.

41:25 - Annette Whitby
No. Haven't heard about quad blogging.

41:33 - Peggy George

41:47 - Peggy George
Lisa please explaing quad blogging :-)

42:16 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Sometimes I wish my 2nd graders were a little older...

42:20 - Peggy George

43:07 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2 weren't muted. LOL!

43:07 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Being a globally connected educator makes it easy to find others to do projects with.

43:14 - Peggy George

43:23 - Peggy George
now we all know what was going on :-)

44:04 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
Mrs. Wideen does a similar project for younger grades.

44:07 - Annette Whitby
Ahhh, okay. Thx for the explanation.

44:16 - Peggy George

44:33 - Peggy George
Time zones are such a challenge for global projects!

44:46 - Peggy George

45:06 - Peggy George

45:21 - Peggy George

45:27 - Peggy George
Why do you use wikis to share?

46:05 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
Me too Lisa.

46:23 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
wikispaces is very friendly

46:26 - Peggy George
tell us about your book with Brian Crosby on blogging :-)

46:52 - Peggy George
this is a fantastic book for learning all about how to start blogging with your classrooms

47:14 - Patti Ruffing
I moced to google docs from wikispaces for group work because of the ability to have simultaneous editing

47:16 - Sheri Edwards @grammasheri
That is awesome!

47:48 - Peggy George
tell us about your upcoming presentation with Donna Roman :-) what will you be sharing?

48:00 - @mrsmorgansclass - Louise 2
wikispaces is just a nice place for curation.

48:12 - Peggy George
wikis make it so easy to compile resources in one place!

48:16 - Susie @shighley
thanks for the clarification

48:32 - Peggy George (Conference Program)

54:04 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Here is a pic of my Geek sneakers on a old site I used -

GREAT WORK!(y) You have made a great presentation of your work and how a connected teacher must work! I feel that is the right way for teaching and learning. I am wondering how long it takes you to plan and monitor all the activities that are related to the activities! THANKS A LOT!!!!!!

54:16 - Peggy George
Thanks Lisa! We'll wrap up now! Love hearing about your resources and experiences!

55:03 - Lisa Parisi
Tiziana, it takes as long as it used to when I just planned lessons. Once the project is set up, all the work is done on my end. Then the kids get going.

55:26 - @plnaugle (Paula)
Virtual applause for a wonderful presentation by Lisa. :)
