06:58 - Peggy George
Marco Torres does fabulous things with his students!

07:06 - stidmama
Maureen, this looks like a marvelous tool. I think I might try it this month. Still adapting to third grade, not yet certain what they can do since they are so much younger than the kids I taught the last couple of years.

07:34 - Peggy George
I got to participate in a full day workshop with Marco and a few of his students and it was awesome!

07:54 - Peggy George
We can't really watch video in app sharing but we can see the page :-)

08:05 - Peggy George
very inspirational Wes!!

08:12 - @bcdtech Maureen
@Stidmama I did the 2 minute intro to the tool and the kids took it from there. I just used it this past week- to retell the story they were using in ELA - a pearson thing...

13:39 - Peggy George
just letting Wes know :-)

13:49 - wfryer
MS Paint and

13:53 - Peggy George :-)

14:02 - @bcdtech Maureen

14:10 - Peggy George

15:17 - Peggy George
Wes has an entire list of his digital storytelling resources in our Livebinder for today :-)

19:17 - stidmama
I wish we'd had murmur a few years back before some of the older members of our community passed away -- they were some of the last ones who were born and lived in the old logging towns. Told great stories! I am going to tell some of my friends who teach older kids (they do oral history type interviews) about this!

19:25 - roxanneclement
Here's a link to our Dot Day Project we do schoolwide every year on September 15ish

she's so wonderful!

23:45 - Peggy George

24:17 - @bcdtech Maureen

24:58 - Peggy George
there are so many great free audio tools :-)

25:01 - @bcdtech Maureen

25:23 - Chase March

26:31 - Peggy George
that looks awesome!

26:49 - roxanneclement
linking in audio to imovie is always a challenge. This looks great.

27:32 - David Ellis 1
would audiophonic help record dialog in a noisy computer lab?

27:32 - Peggy George
another great resource from Wes: (Deepening our Learning Through Storytelling: Creativity, STEM and Stories)

27:37 - @bcdtech Maureen
iOS8 is not making my ipad mini happy...

27:44 - Patti R
i was using Podbean to upload audio podcasts, are there any podcast sites that anyone recommends

27:50 - Peggy George
many teachers and kids love Blabberize :-)

27:54 - roxanneclement

28:19 - David Ellis 1
blabberize is fun but where is the educational value?

28:31 - @bcdtech Maureen
morfo - app is great too- lots of fun

28:35 - Peggy George
the educational value comes in the message David :-)

28:53 - @bcdtech Maureen

29:03 - Peggy George
I've seen teachers use Blabberize to welcome their students at the beginning of the school year telling them the exciting things coming during the year :-)

29:22 - David Ellis 1
ok. maybe i need to rethink blabberize.

29:39 - Peggy George

29:59 - Doug Henry
similar to Voki...

30:01 - Peggy George
with so many of these tools (all of them actually) how you use them is what makes them useful and powerful :-)

We used morfo for explorer reports

30:24 - Peggy George

30:25 - @bcdtech Maureen

31:05 - kg

31:15 - Duda

31:25 - @bcdtech Maureen
I like the ability to share videos privately in google drive

31:28 - Peggy George
Google Drive makes it really easy to add video/audio!!

I love vimeo to share videos

32:03 - wfryer
If you have a classroom vimeo channel, please paste the link into our chat!

32:23 - Peggy George
embedding videos works so well and you don't even have to know anything about html coding :-) just copy/paste

33:11 - @bcdtech Maureen
I have more control over vimeo- what folks see. I likde password protection for some of the kids. I used to use blip... no control and not OK for schools anymmore

33:13 - Peggy George

34:43 - Peggy George
I think parents just need to learn how you plan to use the internet and they will be reassured!

34:44 - @bcdtech Maureen
Some parents at my school do not want their kids work online. They will not allow it- for various reasons

35:10 - Duda
These are two fairy tales that I've done for their students

35:51 - Sheri Edwards
Usually it is foster parents who cannot share photos at our school. Most choose yes.

36:00 - @bcdtech Maureen
When we did a video with Lisa P for peace day, we had a few kids who could not be in the video... they did the work in the background.

36:06 - Peggy George
hearing fine

36:09 - Doug Henry

36:51 - Peggy George
thank you Patti! great tip!

37:05 - Peggy George

44:22 - Doug Henry
I dont have any examples, but here are some links - and

44:35 - Peggy George (Shutterfly Photo Story App)

44:50 - Clarissa
I use Book Creator

44:57 - Peggy George
I love this idea--5 photo story! Really gets the juices flowing!

45:14 - Doug Henry
The photostory I was using was on Windows:

45:14 - Peggy George
I think I first heard about it through Alan Levine (CogDogBlog)

45:17 - wfryer

45:48 - @bcdtech Maureen
I have used storyboardthat for digital storyboarding... but mostly rely on paper docs with squares... scene 1- this will happen, etc...

45:53 - Sheri Edwards
Story with outofeden project

45:56 - roxanneclement
We've been talking about the power of this!

49:43 - @bcdtech Maureen
Greenscreening can be used for anything

49:47 - Duda
and padlet

49:48 - Peggy George
good point about feeling overwhelmed :-) but the good thing is that we will be able to go back and watch the recording and pause it as we go along to explore the sites :-)

50:01 - wfryer

50:18 - Peggy George

50:37 - Clare Dee
Green screen is soooo much fun for the kids, but a storyboard before hand is so important.

50:38 - Peggy George
Wes has tons of valuable resources and students examples on his STEM site!

50:39 - wfryer

50:48 - Peggy George
that's a great price!!!

51:04 - @bcdtech Maureen
I'm always influenced when I meet the creators of these apps- Aaron over at StoryboardThat and the folks at Do Ink attend edcamps and listen to people. They are available

super idea!

52:24 - Clare Dee
I used green screen here in Africa with no special green screen anything, Just hung a green sheet and filmed away. Kids had a ball.

52:37 - @bcdtech Maureen
It's hard for kids not to rush to the tools/apps- but as the final "reward" for pulling their work together- it is amazing.... even 1st graders can use 30 hands

52:42 - Peggy George
Lorie will ask a couple of your questions before we wrap up

52:43 - Clarissa
Awesome way to empower students

52:51 - roxanneclement
right...complicated and simple at the same time.

53:04 - stidmama
There have been so many great (inspiring!) ideas shared today. Thank you all. Maybe next time we do something like this I will have enough experience actually using tech in my classroom to speak up.

53:06 - @bcdtech Maureen
3o Hands

53:11 - Kim Caise
Ok ty

53:12 - Doug Henry
We use lime green plastic tablecloths, and generate animated backgrounds in Scratch...

53:38 - Clare Dee
Oh that is cool Doug!

53:46 - Peggy George
brilliant Doug!

53:56 - wfryer
good idea Doug! I want to bring a green tablecloth so my students can use it as an "invisibility cloak" with our green screen

54:10 - roxanneclement
one of my 6th grade teachers has started using important for beginning coding and thinking logically!

54:21 - @bcdtech Maureen
I copy other people's cool ideas- at least to start... then go from there. SO many teachers are doing such inspirational work. The kids also come in with ideas

54:51 - @bcdtech Maureen
@wes I had a lot of "talking heads" when using green screen.

54:52 - Peggy George
photos are fabulous for generating all kinds of stories!

55:01 - Peggy George
that is so true Wes!!!

55:29 - Clare Dee
Talking heads in green screen is the best for the kids, their creative juices go mad.

56:17 - Kim Caise
There is a green screen app that I am anxious to use

56:42 - Sheri Edwards
Thanks for all the suggestions.

56:43 - Peggy George
I agree Clare :-) and you can use that for sign language along with the video

56:44 - @bcdtech Maureen
noise tool removers don't work well in my experience. I send kids to the hall or corners, etc...

iRig mics work really well for me

56:53 - Patti R

@David Ellis I love the open mic format too - super to crowdsource a topic like this

1:00:58 - stidmama
I actually started in google drive using the "form" feature when I was student teaching -- made interactive, automatic feedback quizzes for my students.

1:01:21 - Kim Caise
Gamification is a growing trend in classrooms -so excited!

1:01:33 - wfryer
I am really looking forward to the STEM strand in K-12 Online this year - follow on

1:01:38 - stidmama
