Overview

Uses of Presentations in the Education

The old power point presentation is still a favoured method for students to bring their home projects to school. This can often create problems due to cross platform issues with IBMs and Macs for example. A solution is to teach kids how to turn their presentation into a Movie in I movie (MAC) and then burn their presentation on DVD using IDVD. This means it can be played in a standard DVD player, saving set up time if light projectors and the like are not available.
There are probably IBM programs that allow you to do the same.

What Presentations Do for Students

Presentations such as power point are the new form of palm card. They offer students structure to talk to and provide the audience with important visuals- neccesary in today's visual age.

Lesson Plans & Ideas

To change a Power Point Presentation into a movie, simply export the slideshow as JPEGS- each slide saves as a seperate image.
Then, import into I movie and time each slide to suit.
Export to IDVD and burn
The students presentation is ready to go with a lot less resources required. Teachers may find this useful for assemblies and the like too.
